Our charter
Why “World’s Best Coffees” ? Simply because we import only coffees that have been recognized for their quality in their country of origin, having won prizes in cupping contests, nationally or internationally. Our commitment At “World’s Best Coffees”, we follow strict quality principles, a guarantee for our customers to fill always their cup with exceptional coffees: • We import only “estate” coffees, whose plantations are defined by three parameters: country, region and name of the plantation. As these are generally only a few acres in size, this is almost as giving the GPS coordinates of the very coffee tree which every of our coffees comes from. • We import only zero-defect Contest or Specialty coffees ( go to the page... whose fully mature beans have been hand-picked, washed in fresh spring water and dried in the sun. These are generally coffees coming from “Plantations of Honour”, that have received special awards in national or international cupping contests. Coffee producing countries organize in growing numbers such contests where “Exceptional Vintage” coffees are distinguished by highly coveted prizes. “World’s Best Coffees”, has selected the finest of these coffees, and sells them under its brand “Soluna Cafés”. Most of the time, we have visited the plantations, we know their owners personally and have established a balanced and respectful business relationship, as defined in the chart of “Equitable Commerce”. “Equitable” also for the consumer who is guaranteed to purchase an exceptional estate coffee of certified origin, with unique aromas, each cup of which is a new discovery to the palate, a pleasure renewed time and again. Each of our coffees is imported to France in hessian (or jute) 25-pound bags: a new format adopted by “World’s Best Coffees » for its handiness, bearing the name of the country of origin, the region, the plantation, the altitude, the coffee variety, the month of the crop as well as the grower’s code. Quite often the mention ”Not for blend“ is also printed on the bag, which goes without comment. Naturally all our coffees (raw beans) are available to roasters in the same bags. We roast ourselves daily for our customers, using a traditional roasting technique. We let the beans out at the second ”crack“, pearlescent, but not oily, with a deep ”monk’s cloth“ brown color. Needless to say, we dedicate much attention to this roasting step. The quality of our products, the detailed description of their aromas, the perfect roasting, the grinding of the roasted beans in front of the customer, the use of demineralised water at the right temperature, all concur to making ”Soluna-Cafés“ a cup of excellence. publication date 3/10/2007
